I bought this bird feeder two years ago from Decor Steals, it was my first ever purchase from them and I was super excited about it.
It got to my house and it was just beautiful.
I don't have anyone to blame but myself so I am sharing my knowledge to help someone else who might purchase this item.
It clearly says "bird feeder", but I bought it with the intentions of using it as a bird bath.
Hard to see & bad placement, but you can see it hanging along my fence on the left. |
This thing does not do well with water. Do NOT leave water in it. Dump it out and clean it with soap and warm water if it gets rain water in it. It WILL flake off and get yucky (I think it's some kind of spray paint) which is dangerous and unhealthy for the birds and my dog who would go and tip it over to get a drink while outside. Luckily
he didn't get sick, but he could've with as nasty as the water gets. Mine has stripped down so much that I think the bottom might fall out soon, so maybe I should order a new one and use it for it's intended purpose this time.
It looks nice out in my yard still, but it does require maintenance and if you live somewhere where the winter months get pretty cold then you will definitely want to take it off the hook and put it up out of the elements until there's no risk of freezing. The birds love it, by the way, it is always nice to see them out there perched on it. You will want to put it somewhere out of the wind because it will swing around a bit, though I've never had mine fall off the mount, but it might send some birds flying.
