Living Room Makeover & Reveal

Hello, there.

Well, before I begin, I just want to let you all know that I have been pretty busy lately so my posts have been slowing down. I have been working hard to get some content to share and here is what I have for you now.

A lot of hard work has gone into the living room these past few weeks. We have managed to finish painting the walls and trim, as well as pull up the carpet to reveal the beautiful hardwood underneath. My wonderful husband helped a lot with this project and made sure to keep me on task so that we could get this done in a timely manner.

For anyone wondering, the paneling is vinyl, we did not sand before painting, and it took two coats of paint to cover the dark panel color. It was much easier than we expected. In the future when we remove the drop tile ceiling, we will take the paneling down and paint the walls underneath. Until then, this is what we're working with.

I am super excited about this because it is the most used room in the house and also one of the first rooms you see when entering. I had a goal to finish it before Ezra's second birthday and with help from my hubby, I was able to achieve that goal. (My next short-term goal is to paint the trim in the entry way before the party.)

Below you will find before and after pictures of my brand spanking new living room that I am just loving! I still can't get over how much brighter it is in here and how much more welcoming it feels. Enjoy. :)

Before and after.

After pulling up the carpet, painting the walls and trim.

View from the entryway.

When we first moved in, before any of our furniture was in the house.

I have really learned to love the stained glass. I obsessed over this TV stand for a while and got it as a wedding gift.

Old wedding decorations are now being used for TV stand decor.

More recycled wedding decor.

Tealight lantern from IKEA.

I recycled these Starbucks bottles and hot glued some rope yarn (or whatever it's called) and painted them white. I got the branch lights from Kohl's on clearance for $3, score!

This is the flower basket and ring bearer pillow from our wedding. I used scrabble pieces and hot glued them onto the pillow and tied our rings into the bow. You can pick it up at Walmart.

My couch needs a good cleaning, click here to find my "pin of the week" post with a DIY cleaning solution.

I would like to start collecting more books, I love to read. The bookshelf is from IKEA. It is very affordable (currently on sale for $29) and extremely sturdy.

My husband bought this wall art from Kohl's and I like reading it when I'm laying on the couch. It is a nice reminder of true love.

I picked up the silver owl from the dollar store and the scentsy warmer was a wedding gift.

My husband made these himself, he says. I'm not sure if it was some kind of kit or if he actually bought the candles, rocks, glass jars, and mirrored tray with the intentions of turning them into this cute little decoration. Either way, I can't bring myself to light these candles because I just love the look of this on my bookshelf.

My husband got this clock from Kohl's before we met, but as you can see we have lost the pendulum during one of our many moves. A new wall clock is in our future, though I do love this one.

Let me know what you think, I hope you love our new living room as much as I do! :)
